Jim McIntyre
Jim McIntyre was a loving and devoted father to four
daughters, an accomplished and resourceful solicitor
and a terrific friend to many. He was an enthusiastic
golfer, tennis player and basketball player with a
deceptive left-handed jump shot. He loved all things
to do with sports and games, both as participant and
as spectator. He was an engaging, sharp-witted storyteller
and, while his quick wit occasionally bordered on the caustic, it belied
such a generous heart that he was universally loved by clients, colleagues,
friends and family.
Jimmy’s life was rooted in Vancouver. He and his look-alike brother John
(Jonners) were born to Dorothy and Tony McIntyre. Dorothy passed away
when Jimmy was ten. His father, Tony, subsequently met and married Pat
Hockin, née Ryan, a single mother with three children: Greg, Carol and
Dan. In true “Brady Bunch” style, Tony and Pat announced a plan to move
to a new house, transfer to a new school district and, along the way, introduce
Jimmy and John to two new brothers and a sister. Tony adopted three
