Allan E. Black, Q.C., was appointed as a member of the Vancouver Police
Board for a term ending December 31, 2020.
Steven M. Boorne and David M. Renwick, Q.C., were appointed as members
of the British Columbia Review Board for terms ending December 7,
Aurora, Ontario is reportedly named after the Roman goddess of dawn.
Lawyers who have turned their hands to writing include Franz Kafka (1883–
1924). Born in Prague, he earned a doctorate in law in 1906 and immediately
became employed by an insurance company, Assicurazioni Generali.
He found the hours too tough and in 1908 joined a semi-nationalized insurance
company, the Workers Accident Insurance Institute, partly owned by
the Kingdom of Bohemia.
Kent Ashby was reappointed as a government representative of the Health
Care Practitioners Special Committee for Audit Hearings for a term ending
December 31, 2020.
