724 THE ADVOCATE
VOL. 77 PART 5 SEPTEMBER 2019
see that there was always a promised land waiting for me. At the time, that
was far from obvious. I am now a partner at a successful law firm. I am
active in the legal community. I enjoy my co-workers and colleagues at the
bar. I have healthy relationships outside of work. I am remarried and the
father to my son and a stepdaughter. I put things I learned at LAP into practice
every day. For all of those things I am tremendously thankful.
I have no doubt that going to LAP was one of the smartest professional
decisions I ever made. If you think LAP is just for people with drug and alcohol
addictions, think again. If you are on a downward trend at work, emotionally,
spiritually or in terms of a relationship, call LAP. They will help
you. Your downward trend is proof positive that you do not have the tools
to deal with whatever life has sent your way. LAP has the tools. In a nonjudgmental
and supportive setting, they will share all they have with you.
Those are the kind of people who work there. You don’t have to be sad that
things die; new things are being born all the time.
We offer confidential support and education for lawyers dealing with
alcohol and drug dependency, stress, anxiety, and depression.
