Anne Giardini, O.C., O.B.C., Q.C., was appointed as a member of the advisory
council under the Provincial Symbols and Honours Act for a term of one

and St Andrew’s parish magazine.
At its Awards Gala on April 11, 2019, the CBABC Women Lawyers Forum celebrated
the accomplishments of women in the legal profession and welcomed
as its guest speaker Chief Justice of Alberta Catherine Fraser. The
WLF Award of Excellence was presented to Kasari Govender and Rita
Andreone, Q.C., was awarded the Debra Van Ginkel, QC Mentoring Award.
Wu Ting-fang was called to the bar in 1876 at Lincoln’s Inn (reportedly
becoming the “first ethnic Chinese barrister”) and in 1877 returned to Hong
Kong to practise law. In May 1877 he was admitted to the bar of Hong Kong.
Later, he took on various offices including, for a brief period in 1917, acting
premier of the Republic of China; later still he was Sun Yat-sen’s foreign

The VBA held its Eighth Annual Charity Dodgeball Tournament in support
of the Justice Education Society of BC on February 25, 2019. The tournament
saw teams from across the city compete for best costume and the coveted
winner’s trophy. Congratulations to Blakes and Fasken for their team
costume win and to Harper Grey for taking home the top prize as best
dodgeball players! The participating teams were:
