behind many times during her various moves, she does not feel bound to the
material realm and instead focuses on the riches of her many friendships.
Dela is a tactile person, with hobbies as diverse as knitting, painting and
cooking. She created many paintings for her home, and being of Iranian
descent, she takes pleasure in entertaining and cooking for her friends.

Dela’s life has been adventurous and exciting. She has had to learn a lot
of things quickly and in a short amount of time, while meeting each challenge
and then moving on to the next. This judicial appointment will
ensure that she has an abundance of challenges and an exciting time in the

The Honourable Madam Justice Barbara Norell
Barbara Norell, Q.C., was appointed a justice of the
Supreme Court of British Columbia on February 22,
2018. She will sit in New Westminster and is a fantastic
complement to the other outstanding jurists at
that courthouse. This is an appointment that brings
to the bench a keen intellect accompanied by a
strong sense of integrity in her dealings with all participants
in the justice system.
Barbara was born and lived her infant years in the small town of Quill
Lake, located in east central Saskatchewan. It is known by its residents as
the “Goose Capital of Saskatchewan” and according to the 2006 Canadian
