tokens of love and devotion. The Greeks believed that diamonds
reflected love’s eternal flame. According to myth, Cupid or Eros used
diamond-tipped arrows to cast his lover’s spell. Diamonds were traditionally
uncut and unpolished; indeed, in India it was taboo to make a
diamond crystal into a gem. Nevertheless, this custom faded over time
and diamonds began to appear in European jewelry in the 13th century
and the earliest diamondcutting industry is believed to have
started in Venice in 1330 … .
Francesca Marzari, a partner at Young Anderson, was appointed a judge of
the Supreme Court of British Columbia on December 19, 2017. She replaces
Madam Justice V. Gray, who resigned effective August 31, 2017.
On January 2, 2018 Delaram Jahani and Peter Whyte were sworn in as
members of the Provincial Court. Judge Jahani will sit in the Fraser Region
with chambers in Surrey. Previously, she practised with the firm of Boyd
Jahani Barristers in Surrey. Judge Whyte will sit in the Northern Region
with chambers in Williams Lake. He was previously Crown counsel with
B.C. Prosecution Service.

Diamond certification from the Recording Industry Association of America
refers to sales (and streaming equivalent sales) of ten million units. As for
the Canadian Recording Industry Association, a diamond certification
flowed from sales of one million units before May 1, 2008, with the threshold
lowered after that date to sales of 800,000 units.
