Currently, Norman, the chocolate Labrador, has the enviable position of Patti’s best friend. When Norman is content, Patti can find time to read fiction, provide some of her trademark humour to her family members, and wait, only briefly, until the next opportunity to enjoy a long dog walk. t t t t t The Honourable Judge Susan Mengering Susan Mengering was appointed to the Provincial Court of B.C. effective January 9, 2017. She will be sitting in Prince George. Susan graduated from UBC law school in 2000. Prior to that she was a child protection worker for the Ministry of Children and Family Development in Surrey. Susan articled under the tutelage of Trevin Rogers at Baker Newby in Chilliwack and was called to the bar on May 22, 2001. She practised with that firm until 2003, when she joined the Prince George Crown office. During the course of her time in Prince George, she covered the circuit courts in Mackenzie, Valemount, McBride, Kwadacha and Tsay Keh Dene. In addition she conducted a number of serious trials, including a dangerous offender proceeding and two manslaughter trials. Up until her appointment she was co-counsel on a first-degree murder trial. Susan was appreciated in the Crown office for her strong work ethic and commitment—she is a team player through and through. Susan has said that she has thoroughly enjoyed her time in northern B.C. She is involved in the Prince George community and volunteers her time generously. The Crown office will miss not only her dedication, but also her quirky sense of humour—and her banana muffins! t t t t t
