Katalinic also joins Eyford Macaulay Shaw & Padmanabhan, leaving QA Law to do so. Jennifer Champion changes ministries by moving from counsel with the Ministry of Energy and Mines to counsel with the Ministry of Education. Samantha Stepney lands with Kent Employment Law having previously been with DLA Piper. Nate Todd-Jones leaves Lawson Lundell to go in-house with Catalyst Paper Corporation. Alexander Buonassisi joins Oyen Wiggs after having completed his articles with the firm. Paul Matthews departs Calgary and his in-house post with Innovate Calgary to join Lawson Lundell and establish that firm’s new Kelowna office. Heather Jones moves back downtown to join Miller Thomson having been with Sager Legal Advisors in West Vancouver. Iva Erceg left Blakes to join DuMoulin Black. Silvano Todesco moved from Doak Shirreff to Access Law Group. Cameron R. Wardell moves from Overholt Law to Mathews, Dinsdale & Clark. As the spring flowers arrive in Victoria, Emma Neary moves from Hart Legal to Horne Coupar. The provincial government recently appointed seven new Provincial Court judges to address upcoming retirements. The appointees are Judge Cathaline Heinrichs, Judge Cassandra P. Malfair, Judge Susan Mengering, Judge Brian E. Hutcheson, Judge Peter R. LaPrairie, Judge Lynal E. Doerksen and Judge Patricia E. Stark. The middle name of one of the new appointees might possibly be the same as that of the Greek goddess of spring. In Supreme Court news, the Madam Justice Marvyn Koenigsberg transferred from the Supreme Court at Smithers to Vancouver, effective October 10, 2016. Madam Justice Wendy Baker retired, effective August 31, 2016. Madam Justice Alison Beames, Supreme Court, at Kelowna, became a supernumerary judge on November 27, 2016. Madam Justice Catherine Bruce retired on September 23, 2016. Madam Justice Sandra Ballance, Supreme Court, at Vancouver, retired, effective December 31, 2016. Mr. Justice Robert Johnston, Supreme Court, at Victoria, became a supernumerary judge, effective December 12, 2016. Mr. Justice Robert Punnett transferred from Supreme Court, at Prince Rupert, to Supreme Court, at Victoria, effective December 12, 2016.
