Thompson Rivers University Faculty of Law congratulates 2nd year Law
student Domenic Cundari for his selection by the CBA National Real
Property Section as submitting the best student paper across Canada
in its 2017 Essay Contest.
Cundari’s winning essay, The Conflict between Aboriginal Title and
Private Property in the Secwepemc Territory, examines the conflict
between Aboriginal title and fee simple private property owners with
a focus on the Secwepemc Nation of British Columbia.
His paper was the result of research conducted in Associate
Professor Janna Promislow’s Indigenous Peoples and Canadian
Law course in fall 2016.
“The paper brings several areas of law together, analyzes
contentious issues, is grounded in local concerns of national
importance and highlights how Indigenous issues are matters
for the Canadian society as a whole.” - Janna Promislow
